Aberdeenshire Council have advised that the Catterline harbour road will remain closed for at least 18 months.

Community Project Grants

The Community Council has a small amount of money available to local community groups to help fund projects. To apply for funding, please either contact one of your community councillors or apply by email or in writing to the secretary;

The grants will be allocated at the meeting on 26th March, so applications will need to have been received before then.

Launch of New Police Non-Emergency Number

A new 101 non-emergency number will be launched across Scotland on Thursday 21 February 2013, and will replace the vast range of existing police force non-emergency numbers, including the Grampian Police 0845 600 5 700 number, which will be gradually phased out.

The introduction of the 101 non-emergency number will give the people of Scotland a new way to contact the police, seek advice, speak to a local officer or to report a crime that does not need an emergency response, for example:

car theft;
damage to property;
a minor traffic collision;
suspected drug use or dealing;
information about crime in their area.

A92 Closed This Weekend

The A92 from Mill of Uras to Uras Cottages will be closed this weekend (15th & 16th December) for culvert replacement work. The official detour is via Arbuthnott and the A90.

MARINE CONSERVATION

Calum Duncan, Scotland Programme Manager of Marine Conservation Society is giving a presentation on marine conservation, with special reference to a proposed ban on fishing in the Catterline - Crawton waters.

The talk with a question and answer session will be part of the communuity council public meeting on 26 June, at 7.30. Everyone welcome.

Scam Warning

Several people in the Stonehaven area have received phone calls recently purporting to be from "Microsoft Windows" about "virus problems reported by your internet service provider". These calls are scams. Microsoft does not make unsolicted phone calls to help you fix your computer. If you recieve an unsolicted call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, just hang up.

Local Development Plan - Current State of Play

There will be a meeting to discuss the Local Development Plan and the current 'state of play' at Catterline School on Thursday 23rd September 2010 at 7.30pm. Piers Blaxter from Aberdeenshire Council will be present to answer questions.

The draft Local Development Plan for Aberdeenshire is now online. Stonehaven/Dunnottar/Touks and Kinneff are covered in the Kincardine Settlements Statement Part 2, and Catterline is mentioned in the Housing and business development in the Countryside document. Full details can be found here.

The proposals are being presented to the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee and Infrastructure Services Committee on March 9th and 10th. According to the Aberdeenshire web site, "these draft LDP settlement and site proposals are based on internal and external stakeholder consultation and submissions from the public consultation on the Main Issues Report. These are likely to change as they progress through the Area Committees and Infrastructure Services Committee".

Planning Page Gets a Makeover

The pages showing planning applications in the CKDCC area has been given a bit of a makeover, and now has colour coded markers on the map to show the status of current planning applications. It also has different tabbed pages for each year to keep things nicely organised. The biggest change, however, is not obvious at first glance. Instead of being entered by hand, planning application details are now extracted directly from Aberdeenshire Council's planning database by some fiendishly clever software written by Stephen Hall, so the list of applications will remain up to date without any human intervention.
